The lesson plans and student resources that go with each video have been created by top English experts in the UK, and teach key vocabulary, grammar and skills in reading/writing and speaking/listening.

How to give your English lessons with Ready to Run

Language Levels

Any student with a phone can follow your lessons with Ready to Run. Any way of communicating with your students is fine - it might be skype, Zoom, Teams, a school LMS, or even WhatsApp.

There are 15 free lesson videos and plans. They cover a wide range of topics - culture, nature, science, food, arts and family for example - and are designed to be relevant, to provoke interest, and to align to curriculum.

To teach at the right language level, check the grade of your class against the CEFR (Common European Reference Framework) system used by Ready to Run, in this table.

From the menu, select the class level and then your lesson topic. Prepare your lesson by viewing its film, lesson plan, student worksheets and transcripts. Your teaching can be live, or recorded for them to follow later.

Every lesson plan has three phases: activities before watching, during watching, and after watching. Our lesson plan gives timings and is ready to teach from.

Watching the video is easy for your students: just copy and paste the video sharing link into whatever platform you use to communicate. When they click on the link, the video will play on their mobile. Repetition is great for learning English, and students will want to repeatedly view these films. The activity sheets can be given to them as attachments.

Flipped learning - the best mode of teaching

Flipped learning means your students do preparatory tasks independently at home on their own devices. Then in class they work with the teacher to deepen their understanding, practice additional skills, and resolve any queries.

When teaching in Flipped mode, encourage your students to watch the video many times, show it to parents and siblings, discuss with peers in their own channels. They’ll be impressed, and positive: that helps with learning. Then get them to bring their comments, observations, reactions and questions to the class session. Every student input is an opportunity to teach relevant English language curriculum.

The creators of Ready to Run can arrange a webinar at your school for more Flipped learning tips for teachers.
